Free NWEA MAP Growth practice test for Grade 7Math 6+, Reading 6+ and Language 2+
Grade 7 children sit Math 6+ and Reading 6+, and Language 2+ where the school gives it. Math covers proportional relationships, percent increase, decrease and discounts, adding and multiplying negative numbers and fractions, equations and inequalities, angles, cross sections, and probability and samples. Reading adds sonnets and odes, pairs of texts that disagree on the facts, and words that carry an allusion or say the opposite of what they mean. Language adds describing phrases in the right place, phrases and clauses, sentences with two or more clauses, and claims, counterclaims and sources in a paragraph. A few questions reach Grade 8.

Tips
Getting ready for Grade 7
- Percent change is the change divided by the starting amount, not the new one.
- A price raised by 25% and then cut by 25% does not end where it began: work out each step.
- When two texts disagree, find the fact each one gives and where it came from.
- In Language, put a describing phrase right next to the word it describes, or the meaning can change.
- The real Math 6+ test shows a calculator on some questions. Ours has none, so keep scratch paper handy.
