Otis-Lennon School Ability Test
OLSAT practice tests
The OLSAT (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test) measures verbal and nonverbal reasoning. It is published by Pearson, and many US school districts use it, often with the NNAT, to find children for gifted and talented programs. Up to Grade 2 the verbal questions are spoken; from Grade 3 the child reads them.
Our OLSAT practice tests follow the question types Pearson publishes for each level, in two parts: Verbal and Nonverbal. Pearson does not publish every level's length or answer choices, so those follow test prep sources and are marked as our estimate. Each test is new when your child starts it, and the score shows straight away.

Questions
What parents ask
- Are these real OLSAT questions?
- No. OLSAT questions are secure. We write our own questions in the style of each question type Pearson lists for each level.
- Which level should my child practice?
- The level for your child's grade on test day: Level A in Kindergarten, B in Grade 1, C in Grade 2, D in Grade 3, E in Grades 4 and 5, and F in Grades 6 to 8.
- How long is the real test?
- Pearson says the OLSAT is untimed, up to 75 minutes, and publishes the length of Level F: 72 questions. For other levels we follow test prep sources, so treat those lengths as an estimate. Our tests have no time limit either.
- My child cannot read yet. Can they still practice?
- Yes. Up to Grade 2 our tests read every question aloud, and your child answers by tapping a picture.
- Is it free?
- Sitting is free: make a free account and your child can sit as many OLSAT tests as you like. The gifted pack (US$49 for six months, covering CogAT, NNAT and OLSAT) shows which questions were right, the right answers and a worked solution for each. The US bundle (US$99) covers every US test we offer.
