Free NWEA MAP Growth practice test for Grade 2Math 2-5, Reading 2-5 and Language 2+

Most Grade 2 children sit the Math 2-5 and Reading 2-5 tests, and Language 2+ starts in Grade 2 for schools that give it. Math covers adding and subtracting within 1,000, place value, money, time, measuring and simple shapes. Reading has short stories, poems and how-to texts, with questions on what happens, why, and what words mean. Language asks about nouns and verbs, capital letters, commas and spelling, and which sentence fits best in a short paragraph. A few questions in each go above Grade 2.

Tips

Getting ready for Grade 2

  • Read every question to the end before choosing: some ask for the number that is NOT true.
  • Use scratch paper for two-digit sums, as the real test allows.
  • In Reading, go back to the story to check an answer: it stays on the screen beside the questions.
  • In Language, read the whole paragraph before choosing a sentence to add to it.
  • There is no clock, so take your time on each question.
