Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test

NNAT practice tests

The NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test) is a test of reasoning with shapes, published by Pearson. It has no words and no numbers: every question is a picture of colored shapes with a piece missing, and the child picks the piece that fits. Many US school districts use it, often alongside the CogAT, to find children for gifted and talented programs.

Our NNAT practice tests follow Pearson's published shape: 48 questions in 30 minutes, five answer choices, one level for each grade from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Each test is new when your child starts it, and the score shows straight away.

Questions

What parents ask

Are these real NNAT questions?
No. NNAT questions are secure. We write our own shape questions in the style of the NNAT's published question types, at the same length, time limit and number of choices.
Which level should my child practice?
The level for your child's grade on test day: Level A in Kindergarten, B in Grade 1, C in Grade 2, D in Grades 3 and 4, E in Grades 5 and 6, and F in Grades 7 and 8.
My child cannot read yet. Is that a problem?
No. The NNAT has no reading in the questions. Up to Grade 2, our tests also read each question's one-line direction aloud.
Is it free?
Sitting is free: make a free account and your child can sit as many NNAT tests as you like. The gifted pack (US$49 for six months, covering CogAT, NNAT and OLSAT) shows which questions were right, the right answers and a worked solution for each. The US bundle (US$99) covers every US test we offer.
Does a practice score predict my child's NNAT score?
No. The NNAT reports a score against children of the same age nationally, which only the real test can do. Our score is the number of practice questions answered correctly.
