Cognitive Abilities Test
CogAT practice tests for Kindergarten to Grade 6
Many US school districts use the CogAT to find children for gifted and talented programs. Our practice tests follow its three batteries and nine parts, at the same length as the real test, and each one is new when your child starts it. Up to Grade 2, every question is a picture and is read aloud, so a child who cannot read yet can sit the whole test.

Questions
What parents ask
- Are these real CogAT questions?
- No. CogAT questions are secure, and nobody outside Riverside has the real ones. We write our own questions in the style of each published CogAT question type, at the same length and time limit as the real test.
- Is it really free to sit the tests?
- Yes. Make a free account and your child can sit every practice test at every grade, as often as you like. Each test is new, built when your child starts it. The score shows at the end.
- What does the pack add?
- Every answer: which questions your child got right, the right answer to each one, and a worked solution that shows how to reach it. One payment of US$49 covers six months, with no auto-renewal. The US bundle, US$99, covers every US test we offer, including NNAT, OLSAT, ISEE and SSAT.
- Does my practice score tell me my child's CogAT score?
- No. CogAT reports scores against children of the same age across the country, which only the real test can do. Our score shows how many practice questions your child answered correctly, so you can see what to work on.
- Which grade should my child practice?
- The grade your child is in on test day. Kindergarten children sit CogAT Level 5/6, Grade 1 Level 7, Grade 2 Level 8, Grade 3 Level 9, and so on up to Grade 6 at Level 12.
- My child cannot read yet. Can they still practice?
- Yes. From Kindergarten to Grade 2 every question is a picture, and our tests read each question aloud, as the teacher does on the day. Your child answers by tapping a picture. Turn the sound on, and help with the Finish button at the end.
