How Scholar Tests works, what we do with your family’s information, and what happens if you want to cancel. Plain English throughout — email hello@scholartests.com if anything here isn’t clear.
Terms & Conditions
Who we are
Scholar Tests (“we”, “us”, “Scholar Tests”) is a GST-registered Australian business based in Melbourne, Victoria. We operate this website and app, which trades under the name Scholar Tests.
The service
Scholar Tests provides timed, exam-style practice papers for the ACER, Academic Assessment Services (AAS), and EduTest scholarship tests used by Australian schools, along with reports and feedback on how your child went. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ACER, Academic Assessment Services, Edutest, ICAS Assessments, Janison, or any school named on this site. Practice papers are independently written to each board’s published format.
Accounts
An adult — a parent or guardian — creates and controls the account. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with a Google account; there is no password to remember or lose. Keep access to your email or Google account secure, since anyone who can sign in to it can see your family’s practice history.
Using the papers
Practice papers, questions, and reports are for your own family’s personal, non-commercial use. Please don’t copy, resell, publish, or otherwise redistribute them.
Subscriptions & billing
Some content requires a paid weekly subscription. Payment is handled by Stripe and renews automatically each week until you cancel — see Refunds below for how cancelling works.
Changes
We may update the service, its content, or these terms from time to time. We’ll keep the date at the top of this page current when we do.
No guarantee of results
Our papers are independent practice material, not official past papers, and we can’t guarantee any particular exam result. We aim to keep the service accurate and available, but it is provided as-is, without warranties beyond what Australian Consumer Law gives you as a matter of right.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
Privacy & Security
This section explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we look after it. It covers this website and app only.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address, and however you signed in (one-time code or Google).
- About you, if you choose to give it: your name, mobile number, and state.
- About your child, if you choose to give it: their first name only — never a surname — which exam board they’re preparing for, their current year level, and a target school.
- Practice activity: papers attempted, answers, scores, and time taken, so we can show progress and reports.
- Written responses: if your child submits a Written Expression response, we store the text they wrote and the mark and feedback it received.
Why we collect it
To run your account, show the right papers for your child’s board and year level, mark and report on practice, process payment for a subscription, and contact you if we need to about your account. If you give us a mobile number, we use it only to reach you about your account — never for marketing text messages unless you separately opt in.
Your child’s privacy
The account belongs to a parent or guardian, not to a child — your child does not register or sign in separately. We only ever ask for their first name, and never their surname, date of birth, or any other identifying detail beyond what a practice report needs.
AI-assisted marking
If your child submits a Written Expression response, the text they write is sent to an AI language model (currently a Claude model, accessed through Vercel’s AI Gateway) to generate a mark and written feedback. We use this only to mark and give feedback on that response.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember simple preferences, like which sign-in method you used last time. None of these track you across other websites, and we don’t run advertising or analytics cookies — so there is nothing here to opt into beyond what is needed to run your account.
Payment information
We never see or store your card details. Stripe, our payment provider, handles this directly and is certified to the PCI DSS standard every card processor must meet.
Where your information is stored
Your account and practice data are stored in Australia, in a Sydney data centre operated by our database provider, Supabase.
Who we share it with
Only where it is needed to run the service: Stripe processes payments, Supabase stores your account and practice data, Vercel hosts the app, and — only for Written Expression responses — an AI provider generates marking feedback. None of these providers may use your information for their own purposes. We never sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their marketing.
Access, correction & deletion
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you or your child at any time — email hello@scholartests.com. This is a manual process on our end today rather than an instant self-service button, and we will confirm with you once it is done.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) throughout, keep access to your data limited to what running the service requires, and rely on our infrastructure providers — Supabase and Vercel — for the security of the systems underneath.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, email us first at hello@scholartests.com and we’ll respond directly. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
Refunds
Subscriptions are billed weekly, with no lock-in contract.
Cancelling
Cancel any time from your account’s subscription settings. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep access until the end of the week you’ve already paid for — we don’t cut access off early.
Refunds on a charged week
Because a week’s charge covers a week of access already granted, we don’t offer partial-week or pro-rata refunds once a charge has gone through.
Something went wrong
If you were charged in error — for example, charged twice, or charged after you’d already cancelled — email hello@scholartests.com and we’ll fix it.
