Primary School Leaving Examination

PSLE Maths, Science and English practice

New papers every time in the 2026 PSLE Standard format: both Mathematics papers, Paper 1 without a calculator and Paper 2 with one, and both Science booklets: Booklet A's 30 multiple-choice questions, marked the PSLE way, and Booklet B's structured questions, marked by your child against model answers. English has both written papers: Paper 1's situational and continuous writing, marked against the two areas schools use, and all of Paper 2, from Booklet A's multiple choice to Booklet B's synthesis and open-ended comprehension, Paper 3, listening: 20 questions on texts read aloud twice, the first 7 answered with pictures, and Paper 4, oral: reading aloud and a conversation about a picture, spoken into the microphone and marked.

Mathematics is 45 questions and 100 marks over two papers on the same day, with every answer in the unit the question asks for and working shown in Paper 2. Science Booklet B is 11 structured questions, 40 marks, in 45 minutes here: your child types each answer, then ticks the marking points it made against a model answer. English synthesis and the short comprehension answers are marked by the computer against our list of accepted answers; the longer comprehension answers are ticked the same way as Science. Questions parents ask

Which format do the papers follow?
SEAB's format for 2026, which it marks as revised for Mathematics and Science. Standard Mathematics is 45 questions and 100 marks over two papers on the same day: Paper 1 without a calculator in 1 hour 10 minutes, Paper 2 with one in 1 hour 20 minutes. Older past papers may not match this layout.
How are the practice papers marked?
With the PSLE's marks per question. On the real paper a wrong answer with the right method can still earn a mark; a typed answer cannot show working, so have your child write it on paper and check it against our worked solution.
What topics are covered?
The Primary 5 and 6 syllabus: whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentage, ratio, rate and speed, average, simple algebra, area and perimeter, circles, volume, angles and shapes, pie charts and line graphs, and word problems solved with the model method.
Is there Foundation Mathematics practice?
Yes. PSLE Foundation Mathematics has its own papers in SEAB's 2026 Foundation format: 42 questions and 80 marks, Paper 1 without a calculator in 1 hour and Paper 2 with one in 45 minutes, on the Foundation topics only. There is a free one to print under Maths exam papers, PSLE Foundation, and new ones to sit online on the practice page.
Is there Science practice?
Yes, both booklets, across Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Energy and Interactions. Booklet A is 30 multiple-choice questions. Booklet B is 11 structured questions answered in sentences: after handing in, your child sees a model answer and ticks each marking point the answer made, one point a mark. That self-marked score is kept apart from Booklet A's.
Is there English practice?
Yes, Paper 1 and all of Paper 2. Booklet A is 25 multiple-choice questions in SEAB's order: 10 on grammar, 5 on vocabulary, 5 in a vocabulary cloze and 5 on a visual text such as a poster or notice. Booklet B's grammar cloze, editing for spelling and grammar, and 15-gap comprehension cloze are 35 typed words, marked at once; where more than one word fits a gap, every one is accepted. Booklet B's synthesis (5 sentences, 10 marks) and open-ended comprehension (a passage and its questions, 20 marks) are a third paper of 40 minutes. Paper 1's situational and continuous writing are typed and marked. Listening is Paper 3 and oral is Paper 4, below.
How is the English writing marked?
Situational writing is marked on Task fulfilment and Language and organisation, and continuous writing on Content and Language and organisation: the areas Singapore schools mark them on (6 and 8 marks, then 18 and 18). SEAB does not publish its marking scheme, so the four bands on the report are ours, and the report shows bands, not a predicted PSLE mark. It quotes your child's own sentences as the reason for each band, checks every content point in a situational piece, and ends with one thing to do differently next time.
How is synthesis marked?
Your child types the whole new sentence, and the computer checks it against our list of accepted versions: 2 marks for an accepted sentence, 1 for one small slip in capitals, punctuation or the spelling of one word, and 0 for anything else, close to how schools mark it. The report shows every accepted version.
Is there listening practice?
Yes, Paper 3: 20 multiple-choice questions on six texts of our own, such as announcements, conversations, a story, a news report and a talk. Questions 1 to 7 are answered with pictures, as on the day. Each text is read aloud twice by your browser's own voice, after 15 seconds to read its questions, and the words are shown only after your child hands in. Turn the sound on first. SEAB does not say how many choices each question has, so we give four, as on the other PSLE papers.
Is there oral practice?
Yes, both parts of Paper 4, spoken into your device's microphone. Reading aloud: a short passage with its situation, 2 and a half minutes to prepare, then one recording. The conversation: a picture, 2 and a half minutes to look at it, then three questions, one recording each. Your child can listen back and record again before handing in. Without a microphone, the page gives a checklist for practising aloud with a grown-up.
How is the oral marked?
The recording is turned into words by a speech-to-text service, and the words are marked: reading aloud on Reading accuracy and Fluency and pace (measured from the recording's timing), the conversation on Personal response and Clarity of expression. A computer cannot fairly judge pronunciation, expression, tone or eye contact, which the examiners also mark, so the report says so and gives a grown-up a checklist for those. The bands are ours, not a predicted PSLE mark.
What happens to the recordings?
They stay on your device until your child hands in. Then each one is sent once to a speech-to-text service to turn it into words, and deleted. We keep the words and the marks, never the sound.
Is this the real PSLE paper?
No. Every question is written by Scholar Tests, and we are not connected with SEAB or MOE. Past PSLE papers are SEAB's copyright and are not used.
