Is my child the right age?
For the 2027 test a child must be born between 1 May 2015 and 31 July 2017, both dates included.
Age is one rule of several: the child must also be in Class 5 at a government or recognised school in the district the application is for. The prospectus has the full rules.
Questions parents ask
- What changed in the JNVST 2027 pattern?
- Mental Ability is now 20 questions instead of 40, and 20 Environmental Studies (EVS) questions join it in the first section. The test is still 80 questions for 100 marks in two hours, with no negative marking.
- What are the qualifying marks?
- 14 marks in Mental Ability and EVS together, 7 in Arithmetic and 7 in Language. A child must reach all three.
- Which Mental Ability question types are there?
- Five parts of four questions: pattern completion, figure series completion, geometrical figure completion, mirror and water images, and embedded figures. All are pictures, with no words to read.
- Is this the real Navodaya test?
- No. Every question is written by Scholar Tests in the published pattern. We are not connected with Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
- Can my child practise in Hindi?
- Yes, for the Language test: four Hindi passages with 5 questions each, as the real test sets them. Mental Ability is pictures, so it suits every medium. EVS and Arithmetic practice are in English only for now.
- What is in the EVS section?
- 15 questions on the natural world, the human body, science in daily life and India's surroundings, then a short passage with 5 questions, as the 2027 prospectus sets it.
- Is it free?
- A free account includes 3 practice tests. The India pack (₹499 for 6 months) opens unlimited tests and shows the right answer and the working for every question.
